Janikowski Mieczysław

A painter.
He was born In 1912 in Zaleszczyki, died on the 14th of December 1986 in Cracow. After his matriculation exam he decided to study at the Faculty of Law at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, however after a year he entered the Matejko Academy of Fine Art, which he graduated from in 1939, just before the beginning of the Second World War. After the war he studied at the Art College in Edinburgh. He settled in Paris. From 1940s he created geometrical abstractions, which with time became simpler. Simultaneously he painted figurative paintings and landscapes. Works of art of an artist are among others in the National Museums’ collections in Warsaw, Cracow, Gdańsk and Poznań as well as in the Art Museum in Łódź.
