Stażewski Henryk

A painter, an interior decorator and art theoretician

Born and died in Warsaw (1894-1988). He studied in Stanisław Lentz’s atelier of the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He was the pioneer of the classic avant-garde of the 1920s and 1930s as well as one of the forerunner of geometrical abstraction in the Polish painting. In the interwar period he painted geometrical forms with juxtaposed shades. At the twilight of the 1950s he was creating abstract relief compositions.
