Lebenstein Jan

A painter and graphic artist.
He was born in 1930 in Brześc Litewski, died in 1999 in Cracov. Between 1949-1954 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Since 1959 he permanently worked in Paris. He gained recognition thanks to his early pieces of work (Figures 1956-60), presenting elongated human figures, often resembling unusual monsters. In his later paintings he showed metaphorical world of strange creatures presented in situations typical for human behavior.
